our kids

We’re humbled and thrilled to minister to your little ones each Sunday morning. So, first of all, let us offer a big “thanks” for entrusting them (and their journey with Jesus) to us. Second, let us offer a little rundown of what we do:

Infants
We know that leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our infant area have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all of the needs of your infant. Please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will soothe your baby through the morning. Label all items that belong to your baby.

Toddler
This is a fun and active stage in your children’s lives. We are excited to have them in Reunion Kids and look forward to teaching them that God loves them, God made them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. All activities are age- appropriate with plenty of flexibility for the normal needs of toddlers and two-year-olds. Every week your children will learn a Bible story that will help them understand the key truth for the morning and participate in many age-appropriate, creative activities throughout the morning. We believe in an active, hands-on approach with our kids, so be on the lookout for those fun projects! We will provide toys, and activities for your little one. Please be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes. Label all items, including cups, snacks, diapers, pacifiers, etc. If your child is in the midst of potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher. (Note: Please do not bring extra toys, since it is hard to distinguish what belongs to whom. This can cause the children unnecessary frustration when they are asked to share something that was brought from home.)

Preschool
We want Sunday to be the best day of your child’s week. We believe that it is our responsibility to introduce preschoolers to their Heavenly Father. Every month we focus on one of these three basic truths: God loves me. God made me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Each week your children will learn a Bible story and participate in fun, creative activities that teach the one key truth for the month. (Note: As with the toddlers, please do not bring toys from home, as it is very difficult to keep up with them and it causes unnecessary stress for the kids when they are asked to share with other children.)

Elementary
Children, aged kindergarten through 5th grade, are challenged every Sunday in Reunion Kids to trust God, make wise choices, and build lasting friendships. Shortly after arriving on Sunday morning, kids are moved to a large group environment where they hear a Bible story. During this time, we try to make the Bible come to life. We also have a time of worship where kids can sing and dance and thank God for all he has done. After large group, kids are divided into age appropriate small groups. These small groups allow your kids to get connected and present the best chance to establish a relationship that’s going to matter when they need it most.

We want kids to see how God’s word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last. The curriculum is built around the Three Basic Truths: 1. Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice. 2. Faith: I can trust God no matter what. 3. Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated. The Three Basic Truths are amplified through 36 monthly virtues (such as kindness, generosity and faith) and 150 Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we drive home. It’s the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their hour of Reunion Kids.

*We receive questions from time to time from our parents as to when their child is “moved up” a grade level. When applicable, children will be promoted to the next classroom based on the school calendar. Promotion takes place in the fall.
